Halloween

For Halloween, we took Vivian to the Fall Festival at our church. They had lots of activities, horseback riding and a huge bounce house and slide for the kids outdoors.

Vivian dressed as a lion. At first she didn't want to put her costume on, then wouldn't pull it up over her head. She also wouldn't let me paint whiskers on her face. But she ended up having a great time and I got some really cute pictures.

I love the look on Vivian's face in this picture. She is looking up at her Pawpaw with such love and adoration in her eyes. Of course, I chopped Rick's head off in the picture since I'm always trying to zoom in on Vivian!

My white cowboy boots

For my 2nd birthday, I received a pair of white cowboy boots. My mother, packrat that she is, saved them all these years and recently gave them to me for Vivian to wear.

This past Sunday, we went to Sermon on the Mount at our church. It is basically a church service conducted on horseback at an outdoor arena. Since we were going to be outside, I dressed Vivian in her cowgirl clothes and she wanted to wear her white boots. Yes, I know it's after Labor Day and she really shouldn't be wearing white, but you pick your battles with an almost 2 year old and this wasn't one I wanted to fight, especially since I have been itching to take her picture in those boots!

The first two pictures are of me on my second birthday, January 24, 1966, with my new cowboy boots. The last pictures are of Vivian in those same boots, almost 40 years later.

More digital layouts

Here are some more digital scrapbook layouts that I have completed. Poor Rick, who hates to have his picture taken, has apparently resigned himself to the fact that he is going to be photographed when he is with Vivian so he just basically ignores me and my camera. Vivian loves being outside with the horses and being with her grandpa. These pictures were taken back in April 2005.

This is one of the first pictures we ever took of Vivian in her grandpa's arms.

I did a really pretty layout with this one but I didn't want to post it because it is the title page to the scrapbook and has her full name on it. But this is the picture I used, it was one taken on our old digital camera, I turned it black and white and blurred around the edges of the photo. I love how it turned out!

Butterfly Kisses

Another new digital layout. I'm so loving this digital stuff! I have a lot to learn and my layouts are very simple compared to some I've seen but at least I'm scrapbooking again! Digital kit is Jennifer Howland's Daisy Trail.

Me and Rick

Since I can rarely get Rick to pose for a picture, I thought I'd share this one of us taken at his company dinner last week. Every year, the business Rick works for has a dinner for employees who have worked there 25 years or more. This is Rick's 26th year with the company.

My first digital layouts

I finally finished my first two digital layouts. The 4th of July one was my first one and I've been working on it for weeks, reading tutorials, trying to figure out all the steps. I didn't think I'd ever get it but with a lot of assistance from helpful Peas (for those that don't know what a Pea is it is a scrapbooking website I frequent. The members are called Peas) I finally figured it out. The second one, I completed in one night.

I'm so far behind in my scrapbooking that I'm never going to catch up so I thought this might be away to scrap some of my favorite pictures of Vivian. I love it, there's no mess to clean up and if you don't have the perfect piece of paper in the perfect color, you can create it or go shopping on the net and download it in seconds! Now I'm addicted and want to do more and more. I fear that all that paper I've been buying for years and stored in my scrapbook closet is just going to gather dust!

Here are my first two layouts:

Kit is Stacey Stehley's Memorial Day

Kit is Shabby Princess Sweet Serenity

The swing set is finally up!

Well it only took us 4 months but Vivian's swingset is finally complete! We put it up for her this weekend and she loved it. She didn't want anything to do with the toddler swing though, she wants the big girl swing. Here are some pics of her on the swing with her Pawpaw. Anyone think Pawpaw is having as much fun as she is?

Papaw's 90th birthday

This past weekend Rick, Vivian and I went to my grandfather's to celebrate his 90th birthday and to attend a 65th wedding anniversary party for his sister, Bea. We had a wonderful time. Papaw's brother, J.F., the baby at age 80, was in from California. I am so lucky that my grandfather and all his siblings are alive and well and that we got to share in these events with them.

I presented Papaw with a heritage scrapbook for his birthday present. He and all the relatives seemed to really enjoy it. I have been researching the information for several years and finally got most of it compiled in a scrapbook for him. I didn't quite finish it, but left it with him and will just add pages as I go.

This is a picture of Papaw and his brother and sisters. From left to right is J.F., Bea, Lottie and Papaw.
